Bari
The city of Bari is located in the Southern Italian Puglia district, often referred to as the heel of the boot which Italy looks like on a map. The city has over 300.000 residents and is located directly on the Adriatic coast. Due to its location many ships visit the city for both cruises as well as ferries to the Croatian city of Dubrovnik and Durrës in Albania.
The cities main tourist attractions include it’s well preserved historical city centre with a large number of squares, churches amongst which the 12th century cathedral, and the castello. Bari also features a more modern section where the rectangular street plan vaguely resembles that of major American cities. Thanks to the soft limestone many caves are found around the city, the Grotte Castellane is the most frequently visited.
The surroundings of Bari city is one of main Italian pasta production area’s and visitors whom are looking for some culinary delight won’t be disappointed.
