Faro
Many have come, gone and come back again before you. Despite its tourism, the Algarve has managed to maintain much of its Portuguese character with its rocky coasts, sheltered sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages. In the interior, with its picturesque villages, they grow oranges, almonds and figs, and olive trees cover the hills. On the beach at Carvoeiro, you can still find brightly coloured fishing boats, watch fishermen bring in their catch-of-the-day and have the fish specialties served in a small restaurant along with a glass of delicious Vinho. The most famous town in the Algarve is Albufeira, with its Moorish houses and attractive squares. You can find sheltered bays in Praia de Rocha. The more fashionable Vilamoura has an impressive marina. This is where the famous golf courses adorn the rolling landscape. In short, a great deal of variety making for a great holiday.
