Pisa
Pisa is the gateway to Tuscany, the heart of the Italian culture and landscape. Pisa is, of course, best known for its leaning tower (the 'Torro Pendente'). The city is divided in two by the river Arno. Along its banks, you will find the National Museum and some beautiful buildings. Pomp and splendour are in evidence around the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square). The Baptistery ('Baptistery Battistero') and the cathedral (Duomo) are historical buildings that are certainly worth visiting, and both are situated on the Campo dei Miracoli.
Also visit the Piazza dei Cavalieri, a beautiful square dating from the late renaissance period. Pisa has two important shopping streets, Corso Italia and Borgo Stretto, where you can find all kinds of Italian fashion shops. Enjoy the rolling landscape with olive trees, cypresses, olive trees and vineyards and taste the culinary delights of the Italian kitchen. Florence, Siena and Lucca are just a stone's throw away.
