Reduced mobility
Maastricht Aachen Airport offers special facilities to travellers with reduced mobility, allowing for a comfortable journey. The following text provides further information on how to arrange for transport assistance at the airport, where the facilities are located and the matters that require special attention.
Assistance required? Request in timely!
It is important that you should ask for request assistance, if needed, in good time. You can tell your travel agent or airline company about your special needs when you book your flight. Under European regulations, they have to be informed of this, and notify the company and airport, at least 48 hours before the time of arrival or departure. This means that, when you arrive at the airport, any special services such as a wheelchair or elevator to the aircraft will be available.
Reporting desk at the airport
Upon your arrival at the airport, you have to report to a Reporting Desk for persons with reduced mobility in order to receive the assistance you need. Maastricht Aachen Airport recommends that you should get out of your car at the drop-off zone in front of the passenger terminal. A member of your travel party can then park the car in the long-stay car park. The reporting desks are located directly opposite of the "vertrek/departures" entry of the passenger terminal and at the reduced mobility parking spaces at P1. They are marked by the sign displayed above.
Parking for persons with reduced mobility
Special, extra wide parking spaces for passengers with reduced mobility are available at car park P2. They are located immediately behind the metal entrance gate. There are a number of reserved spaces available for dropping off or picking up passengers, next to the payment station of the parking facility in front of the passenger terminal. We would kindly ask that you should clearly place your reduced mobility ticket in your windscreen.
Terminal facilities
The most important facilities are located on the ground floor. Doors and lifts are automatic. A disabled toilet is available in the terminal.
Special terms and conditions
We would like to emphasise that airline companies sometimes apply special terms and conditions. The air transport of wheelchairs with "wet" battery types, for example, are generally not permitted (being regarded as hazardous materials). There may also be maximum dimensions for wheelchairs. Also, there is often a minimum notification period for mentioning travel by air using a wheelchair to the airline company (often 72 hours prior to departure). Please get the right information about this via your travel agent or airline company and consult their websites. We would advise you to allow yourself an additional half hour for check in.
