Special needs

Facilities provided for passengers with special needs may differ from one airline company to another. Maastricht Aachen Airport therefore recommends that you check this with the airline company or travel agency where you booked your flight. Medication:

Ensure that you have an adequate supply of medication and make a copy of the prescription. In the event of loss or theft of your medicines, you will be able to purchase a new supply. The prescription or a copy of it will also help you to show customs officials that it is a medication. Ask your pharmacist or general practitioner for a description in the language of the country of destination, or in English. Always carry your medicines and prescriptions with you in your hand luggage, as they are excluded from the rules on liquids. Please make sure that individual packages of liquid medicines (for example the bottle or tube inside the box) are provided with a label, otherwise these may still be seized at the security checkpoint.

Travelling with babies and young children:

If you are traveling with babies or small children, you have to mention this at the booking stage. Your company will then arrange special facilities, such as special seats or beds for children under the age of two. You may take a child's pram to the aircraft up to the bottom of the front aircraft steps, where you have to fold it in and leave it next to the steps. While you are boarding the aircraft, our staff members will load the pram into the hold. Upon arrival at your destination, the pram will be returned via the baggage carousel or placed beside the front aircraft stairs.

Pregnancy:

Airline companies will generally not allow pregnant passengers to travel if they are beyond the 36th week of pregnancy. A medical certificate will be required after the 28th week. Please contact your airline company and/or travel agent about this.
Special meals: Vegetarian meals, baby meals and special meals such as low-salt, low-cholesterol or vegan meals, or meals for medical or religious reasons, are available on most flights. For this, you have to inform the airline company or travel agency of your wishes in advance.

Pets:

The regulations for bringing pets on board an aircraft vary from one airline company and/or destination to another. If you want to bring your pet, you must mention this to your airline company or travel agency.

Fear of flying:

Fear of flying is a well-known and acknowledged social phenomenon that responds well to treatment. In the Netherlands, you can contact Stichting Valk for this.
