Kos is considered one of the most popular destinations among Dutch tourists. A sunny island suitable for various types of holidays.
Kos belongs to the Dodecanese island group, which also includes the islands of Simi, Kalymnos and Rhodes. The island group is located east of the Greek mainland, between Greece and Turkey. From Kos you can easily see the Turkish coastline. The island has a pleasant climate with mild winters and summers that are not excessively hot.
Kos has a wide variety of beaches that each have their own charm: from cosy bays to sports areas where you can windsurf, and from family beaches that bustle with activity to empty stretches of sandy beach on the south coast of the island. Moreover, nearly all beaches fly the Blue Flag, which is an international environmental award for clean and safe beaches.
Kos is a short flight away from the Netherlands and has good roads. Affordable rental cars allow you to easily explore the island. You can also discover the island by bike: Kos is largely flat to mildly undulating and has beautiful bike paths. Perhaps that is why it is so popular with Dutch tourists.
